Sardines Baked in Tomato and Mediterranean Scents Crust
Sardines are a fish that in the past was considered poor , and Italy is part of what is called blue fish, the Italian pesce azzurro. It is actually a very rich fish from the nutritional point of view , very tasty and very healthy.
To prepare it baked in a crust , a really simple but very tasty recipe , you need :
400 grams ( 2 cups) of sardines cleaned and headless , 1 generous cup of cherry tomatoes , 3 tablespoons oil, 1 cup bread crumbs or dry bread from the corresponding grating , chives, oregano , thyme, parsley , rosemary, 2 cloves of garlic, 1 lime .
I do not add salt because the food with a little salt is healthier , but of course it is to your taste.
Also with regard to herbs , you can remove or add them to your liking.
First of all put the sardines in a bowl and sprinkle with lemon juice ,and let themrepose while you prepare the dough for the crust.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C (350 F).
Now put in a blender tomatoes, herbs, 2 cloves of garlic, peeled 1 tablespoon of olive oil and bread. If you use dry bread into small pieces before do it .
Blend everything well until dough is smooth but not too soft . If necessary, add a little ‘ bread : it all depends on how they make tomato sauce !
Put the dough in the bowl of sardines and mix well.
In a baking dish put a paper towel and anoint well with 2 tablespoons of oil.
Arrange the sardines on the bottom .
Cover with the remaining batter and sprinkle with a little ‘ bread crumbs . Put in the oven and cook for about 20 to 30 minutes, checking good : the crust will be golden and slightly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Now your crusted sardines from the Mediterranean are ready.
Buon appetito, enjoy it!
